The starting point
Monogram had a beloved design tool with a punishing first-run experience: 5 minutes to a useful canvas, with too many forks too early.
They needed to lift activation without adding to a 6-person product team.
How we worked
We embedded for 8 weeks alongside their PM and lead engineer. Days were paired-build, evenings were experiment review.
The new onboarding is a single goal-oriented path with progressive disclosure — and an experiment runner that lets the team test changes daily.
What changed
First-week activation more than doubled in the first month post-launch.
The team ran 62 onboarding experiments in 90 days — more than the previous 12 months combined.
